Featured car of the week

Kevin’s story is short but sweet:
Back in 1972, Kevin’s grandma drove from her hometown of Los Angeles down to Oceanside, California to visit her grandkids. She had worked hard as a nurse and had been saving her money for a long time.  While down in Oceanside, she spotted this brand new Karman Ghia on the car lot in Oceanside, so she bought it right on the spot.  When her visit with the grandchildren came to a close, she drove her brand new $2400.00 purchase all the way back home to Los Angeles. Upon her arrival, she came into the house and announced, “Surprise” to her husband. She ended up driving her baby for over thirty years; she just turned 96 last month.
In 2002, Kevin’s stepfather bought the car from Kevin’s grandmother.  He (the stepfather) had it repainted the original color, then drove the Ghia around as a weekender for about ten years – give or take. About five years ago, Kevin’s stepfather just gave the car to Kevin.  Kevin had the car repainted again last summer. The car is about 95% original, and has 120,000 original miles on the original stock 1600cc engine.  He joined our World Famous Cars and Coffee Folsom in 2018, and brings this beautiful little gem out regularly. Incidentally, Kevin still takes his grandma out for an occasional spin in her beloved ’72 Ghia.
Thank you, Kevin for sharing this little beauty with us as often as you do.
